Directions

Coldharbour Mill is only 5 minutes by car from junction 27 of the M5. Following the signs to Willand (B3181), then the brown tourist signs saying ‘Working Wool Museum’ in Uffculme. There are bus connections from Exeter, Cullompton, Tiverton, and Taunton. The nearest mainline railway station is Tiverton Parkway. Please click here for a Map.

Opening Times

The Mill is open for self directed tours from 10am - 4pm Mon- Fri with restricted weekend opening (please telephone for weekend availability).

Mill Power Trail Tours are available Mon, Weds & Fri at 11:30am and 2:30pm.

The Mill Grounds, Shop and Restaurant are open 7 days a week from 10am -5pm.

Comprehensive guided tours are available for  pre booked groups. For more details telephone 01884 840960.

Power Trail Tour

Power trail guided tour of the mills power sources from 1799 to 1981. Tour includes water wheel (rennovated and now working), steam engines, gas and mill exhibitions.

New for 2008, Self Directed Tours.

Coldharbour Mill are pleased to annnounce self directed public access to the main spinning and weaving floor (Level 2).This is a unique journey through the different stages of making a yarn to a finished woven cloth. Visitors are able to see the original spnning and weaving machinery, some powered by the fully restored water wheel.

The self directed tours are now open Mon - Fri 10am -4pm with limited weekend tours (Please telephone for weekend availability 01884 840960).

New Mill Shop

The Mill shop has been restyled and revamped by John Arbon Textiles (www.jarbon.com). The mill shop has a wonderful array of fibres, yarn, textiles, craft equipment, textile books, gifts and toys.

Gillbox Restaurant

Open daily from 10am until 5:30pm (March – October) Reduced hours between November & February telephone 0800 389 3859.

The site is open from 11:00a.m. – 4:00p.m.
Access is available to the boiler room, steam engine, mill out buildings and the beautiful gardens by the leat.

Access

Mobility impaired visitors can access the mill from the back entrance through the double red gates. The Factory and the Fox Gallery is fully accessible with the use of the lift. The steam complex is now accessible to wheel chair users.

The Gill Box Restaurant is currently inaccessible to mobility-impaired visitors but does offer alternative, accessible seating arrangements within the museum.

Museum staff are happy to advise wheel chair users about accessibility. The museum has one wheel chair for visitors use subject to availability. Please ring the mill office for further advice or to book this facility.

Visually impaired visitors can request large print guides and information about the mill.
