You may recall that in May 2016 the museum received £1,000 from RGB to spend on essential building materials. We are delighted to say, thanks to our team of volunteers the bridge across the stream, which joins the car park to the Mill is now complete. The win allowed us to replace all the timbers which were damaged and add anti-slip strips to improve the access. Repairs to the underside of the bridge were also made and LED lighting was added thanks to additional fundraising.
Jackie Dawkins, Trustee at Coldharbour Mill Museum highlights the importance of this win to the Mill “Due to the nature and age of the Mill it does need continuous maintenance, but as we are a not for profit museum, we rely solely on donations and grants. We’re therefore extremely grateful to RGB Building Supplies for supporting us with the Community Fund. The repairs were completed by a team of our volunteers, headed up by John Chilcott, who all did a fantastic job.”
Geoff Dobbs, Branch Manager at RGB Tiverton, adds: “This is just the type of project our Well Built Community Fund is there to support and we were delighted to return to Coldharbour Mill to see the difference the donation of materials has made.”
Come and see our new bridge when you next visit Coldharbour Mill – we think you will agree that thanks to RGB and our volunteers the bridge will be safe again for years to come.
