MED Theatre presents Devon's War Girls
Saturday Only – 3:00pm
When war breaks out in 1939, Molly’s plans to go to university are shattered and instead she finds herself signing up as a Land Girl and boarding a train to Devon.
Meanwhile, a farmer’s daughter, Enid, is thrust into new experiences when Dartmoor suddenly becomes home to evacuees, soldiers, medics and, of course, the Land Girls.
This fast-paced, two-hander performance pulls inspiration from true local stories explored through the eyes of two young women and the wartime events that bring them together. Written and performed by MED Theatre’s professional staff, the stories draw from extensive research into local history. We would like to thank Bill Hardiman of Moretonhampstead History Society, and Dartmoor historian Dr. Tom Greeves for their inspiration and support.
Utah 237

The Utah 237 Re-enactment Group is a passionate collective of World War II enthusiasts focused on the US military timeline from 1944 to 1945. They specifically portray the 237th Engineer Combat Battalion, a unit that was stationed in Shiphay, Torquay, before participating in the D-Day landings on the Normandy beaches in June 1944. Through detailed re-enactments, the group brings to life the experiences and history of these soldiers, offering a vivid and educational portrayal of their crucial role in the war..

The 2nd Devons

‘Tommy Kit Talk’ on each day 11:30am & 3pm
The 2nd Devons is a group of dedicated re-enactors who bring to life the experiences of the 2nd Battalion Devonshire Regiment during World War II. They focus on the period from the D-Day landings at Normandy in 1944 through to the fall of Germany in 1945. The group authentically portrays the daily life, challenges, and stories of the average British Tommy, offering an immersive glimpse into the life of a soldier during one of the most critical times in modern history. Their re-enactments highlight the courage and resilience of these soldiers.
