Excellent experience, highly recommended. There is no substitute for being next to the magnificent machinery when it is in full flow!
Without exception, all the volunteers here were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

What an amazing and interesting working museum this is, with steam & production days, craft & art events and informative guided tours giving an insight into the local wool & textile production's origins and history. There is a large free car park, a quality cafe & gift shop and almost every area has good access for people with disabilities. Well worth taking up the annual membership for a small additional cost to the day entry fee, as allows unlimited free visits including steam days for a year.

Inside there was quite a bit to see and the visit was made all the more worthwhile due to being a "steam day" so all the machines etc were switched on and were truly a marvel to behold. I am not interested in mechanics or engineering one bit and I found the whole experience very enjoyable and fascinating. This was made even better by the people littered about the factory who were actors from the 1800s. Watching them taunt my children with threats of docking their pay if they did not get back to work was a pure delight. It was also very educational as the actors gave a live insight into what life was like in the factory back in the day. There is also a little play park for the kids to run around in and blow off some steam.

Excellent working wool mill with several floors of machinery to study and watch in motion. If your into big old machines and static steam engines then this is a must visit. There is a nice cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. There is plenty of room outside with nicely laid out gardens, a mill stream and plenty of seating. There is a lawned area and a kiddies play area. The staff were all very friendly and informative.
